A Guide to Online Text Messages
We know technology is converging all the time, but for some people the idea of using a computer to send a text message can have some benefits, both for the home and for business. The question is: how do online text messages work and what service provider should I use?
If you’re phone is broken you can still stay in touch with friends on their phone by sending a text message. Of course you always have to remember to explain to them who you are as they’ll be a little baffled at first. But as an interim measure it can work wonders. I’m often amazed at how reliant we have become on our mobiles. When they break down so do we. This at least redressed the balance in times of emergency.
However, the principal use for online text messaging is in business. There are two major services that firms can use for staying in touch with employees in the field. The first is for PC to SMS. This could be particularly useful for companies that dispatch technical personnel to various locations (either in the UK or overseas). The controller can stay in contact with field technicians from his terminal by sending out messages which go direct to the SMS. It’s ideal for sending bulk messages and you can have the option of using you mobile number, so that replies come back to your phone.
The other is email SMS. This is similar but, as the name suggests is operated from an email account. This is popular for businesses and can provide direct SMS access for all members of staff. This can be particularly useful for any business that has a large number of mobile staff members. For example a sports firm with coaches can quickly get in contact. Also media firms can stay in constant contact with their network of freelancers.
Other versions of online text messages offer options such as bulk messaging and secure networking. However, whatever choice you make you need to be sure that the provider will offer the kind of service you require. There are plenty on the market and it can be tempting simply to opt for the first one you see. However, what you need is a company that can offer good support and expertise. You’ll only find that by taking time out and talking to them face to face.
Online text messages are growing fast. Like all technologies it is evolving all the time offering its users more options by the day. As businesses become more mobile and footloose, it is the perfect tool for keeping even the most mobile workforce all together working off the same sheet.
